LIGHTS ON MOVEMENT
Empowering the Next Generation Through Food Sovereignty
Join the largest indigenous agriculture movement, friendship center, or community hub becomes an engine for growth, learning, and sustainability.
On September 30th: Turning the LIGHTS ON
In honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, each participating school and institution will symbolically—and literally—turn the LIGHTS ON.
This powerful moment marks the beginning of something greater:
A symbol of growth, hope, and new beginnings.
A future where Indigenous youth and communities reclaim their food sovereignty, nourish their health, and ignite a movement of sustainability, education, and empowerment.
Each location will activate:
- 6 or 12 Willow Brook Vertical Garden Towers
- All necessary equipment and training to grow clean, pesticide- and herbicide-free produce
- Ongoing education and support focused on food security, sustainability, health, and culture

The Power of Community Growing
Each aeroponic tower grows 64 plants per square foot, producing 384 plants per site per month. With full participation:
- 232,704 nutrient-dense plants will be harvested every 30–40 days
- Over 2.7 million plants will be grown annually across the country
The Lights On Movement: Empowering the next generation

Why This Matters
This program goes far beyond growing food. It’s about growing independence, resilience, and opportunity.
By bringing advanced, soil-free growing systems into Indigenous education, we are:
- Fostering food sovereignty
- Creating local employment pathways
- Promoting sustainable agriculture
- Protecting health, identity, and cultural connection for future generations
These systems use 95% less water, require no soil, and operate year-round—even in the harshest northern climates—empowering youth with cutting-edge tools to combat food insecurity while strengthening their connection to land and community.
